Is this a new addition to the VW family?

I wish! This little beauty is from a friend of my wife's, and he wants me to check it over. He just acquired the car, and there are just some minor things that he'd like worked out. (its a 6V car, but for example, the choke is a 12V) And a little tune up is all that it needs. Should be a pretty easy overall checkup, and soon you should be seeing this little gem cruising the streets of SM!

Moving the Garage PDF Print E-mail

As some of you know, we recently moved houses, and we went from a very nice, large 2 car garage, down to a barely manageable, small single car garage. And, as you can see on the site, I have several projects in various states of completion hanging around the house. So what to do? I think its time to have a VW garage sale!

I have a bunch of original tins, 1600 stuff, 1200 stuff, even some 36hp stuff is in there. Dog house shrouds, non DH shourds, heads, cranks, cams, rockers, etc... Mostly engine stuff, but some other stuff is in there also. Sorry, the bus is staying in the family! Over the next couple of weeks I'll be getting some better pictures and organizing the whole lot, and I'll be posting up what I want to sell.

 Stay tuned....

In the trailer, ready to unload!

Ever wonder just how big a trillion of anything is? We all know that it's a really, really big amount, but its hard, at least for me, to wrap my head around such a thing. Well, thanks to Hold the Mayo, I found this nifty little web site the other day that I think illustrates this pretty well.

I'll warn you. It's pretty shocking

Navigating the site PDF Print E-mail

Ok, so I got this spiffy new site up and running, but what are some the thought behind it. Starting at the top, I have links to all of my various projects, primaraly the 63 ( my only running driving VW at the moment Embarassed) the 57 bus, and the 56 oval. The other link is for show reports that I go to, or just a little get together that we may have locally. All of the articles on the site have comments (please use them! let me know what you think) and I might throw up a few pictures also.

On the right theres a Polls section that I'll be using to try to get input from all of you out there in internet land. I don't have any set schedule for how long I'll leave a poll up, so if you see a new one, vote, and vote often!

Also on the right is the main menu (duh). Home is obvious (send me an email if you need help). All Projects is basicly a catch all for all articles relating to my three projects. So you can click on All Projects, and get everything in the three tabs at the top with out clicking on each one. The Leftovers is just that, everything else that doesn't fit anywhere else on the site. This is where you find my rants and raves, political talk, business talk, etc. Web Links, is, suprise!, a collection of web links that I use all the time, or some that I just find intresting. And lastly, Contact Matt is just a form to send me some feed back, use it!

Below the Main menu is just a Whos online entry, simple. And down below that is an Advertisement section. I don't know what I'll use there, but if you want to advertise on my site follow the link. In the future, I might put things that I have for sale there.

That about sums up the site,

Thanks for looking...

Ok, so this wasn't exactly what you thought you were going to get when you pointed your browser to www.coastalcustoms.com was it?

So what is this?

This is the NEW site for Coastal Customs, A.K.A. Matts VW blog. Since I own the rights to the site name, and have set up and paid for the site out of my own pocket since the begining, I'm going to use the site for my own purpose. What you'll find here are all of my rambling thoughts, my projects (see the menu at the top of the page), what shows I go to, pictures, and what ever else might come to mind at the time I sit down at the computer keys to pound something out.

So sit back, relax, and enjoy my random thoughts.
