Well, Meet in the Middle just finished up. What a day! The weather was beutiful! Clear, sunny skies, a light breeze, and high 60's temps. What more could you ask for? I took out the ragtop, piled my daughter, and her best friend, and her boy friend into the car, and off we went to the local McD's to meet up with the group. When we got there, there were already a few VW's hanging out. Right at the designated meeting time, in starts rolling the caravan from the north. First about 10 cars come off the freeway. Then a few more. Then a few more. When it was all done I think we had most of the parking lot filled! I'd estimate about 35-40 cars between the Santa Maria cars, and the northern boys. I was thinking then that it was going to be an outstanding day Hit the read more link for the rest of the story, and some pictures! The caravan from Santa Maria got under way on time, and the drive down to Buellton was uneventful. (That's always a good thing when most of the cars rolling are 40+ years old) We cruised through Solvang on the way to the park. It's a nice way to go, but the line tends to get broken up with all of the traffic lights that we needed to go through. Once at the park Mandy and I got to work on setting up the BBQ, and getting the fire started. Things rolled along pretty well this year, I brought 4 cases of pattys (120 burgers) and we got down to cooking ASAP. I think I cooked off about a case and a half before opening the line up for customers, and we still got behind the ball on the cooking duty's. This year we also brought some Dodger dogs to cook for the kids. For those of you that don't know what a Dodger dog is, it's a 10" weiner, that we put on a 6" bun. It's kind of neat to watch a kid try to eat that, they get a big kick out of the size of it. (some of the adults had a good time with it also The turn out at the park was, to put is mildly, AWESOME! I think Tom counted about 130 cars in all that showed up. It was great to see all of the familier faces, and to get a chance to catch up on whats been happening out there in VW land. I didn't get a chance to really get out and mingle much, but that's ok, I love helping out with the cooking, and chatting it up with who wonders by. Unfortunately, I had leave a little early due to a work commitment, but I was able to snap a few pics...

if you know what I mean) Brian brought along some extra pattys, which turned out to be a good call, as we went though most of those also! All in all, I think we sold about 160 burgers!
